eyedeekay submits CCS proposal to 'redesign and modernize' Monero I2P support

Top Invisible Internet Project developer eyedeekay (IDK)1 has submitted a CCS proposal2 looking to get I2P support in Monero redesigned and modernized to use the SAMv33 client protocol:

This project redesigns and modernizes I2P support in Monero. It updates the GUI and docs to make I2P usage easy for users. By abandoning i2p-zero and encouraging users to install I2P themselves, Monero will be set up for flexible long-term I2P support with very little maintenance burden.

Total funding: 150 XMR.

ETA: 2-6 months.

Milestones:
- M1: Finished (150 XMR)

Goals overview

eyedeekay pointed out that the GUI part of the proposal overlaps with the i2p baked into the monero GUI bounty posted by gingeropolous4 and recommended against doing the I2P router bundling/management task referenced in it.

Note that it is currently unclear who exactly would be working on this project. According to the proposer that is TBD, presumably somebody in the Monero dev community.

This is an ongoing story and the report will be updated when new information is available.

Update: proposal closed by luigi ‘until such time as a developer is interested in pursuing it’5.
